1. Picnic

Enjoy a romantic picnic with a stunning backdrop. Singapore has plenty of great picnic spots—Singapore Botanic Gardens, Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, or East Coast Beach—but we love Marina Barrage for its breathtaking skyline views. Bonus? Kite-flying for extra fun! Pack some homemade sandwiches, bring a mat, and unwind as you watch the sunset.
2. Gardens by the Bay (& Satay by the Bay)
💰 Cost: Free (but optional food stop)
While the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest require tickets, you can explore the outdoor gardens and Supertree Grove for free. Grab some affordable satay and BBQ seafood at Satay by the Bay, then end the night with the (free!) Garden Rhapsody light show at 7:45 PM or 8:45 PM.
3. Sentosa beach day
💰 Cost: Free (except transport & food)
A beach day is a cheap yet fun way to spend time together. Lounge on the sand, splash in the water, or bring snacks for a chilled-out date. Want a little extra? Kayak or paddleboard rentals are available for an affordable price at Ola Beach Club!
4. Hawker centres
💰 Cost: ~$20 per couple
Singapore’s hawker culture means delicious, affordable eats everywhere! Some great hawker centres to check out:
- Lau Pa Sat – Satay Street vibes and central location
- Newton Food Centre – If you loved Crazy Rich Asians, you’ll recognize it!
- Old Airport Road – One of Singapore’s oldest and best hawker centres
5. Hike

For active couples, Singapore has a few scenic hikes. Popular trails include Southern Ridges (Henderson Waves), Hindhede Quarry, and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. Our favourite? MacRitchie Reservoir, featuring a stunning Treetop Walk. Just watch out for the cheeky monkeys—keep your snacks hidden!
6. Movie night (cinema)
💰 Cost: Cinema ticket (~$10-15)
Classic date night! Snuggle up with popcorn and a good film at the cinema.
7. Esplanade roof terrace
💰 Cost: Free (except food/drinks)
Instead of splurging at a rooftop bar, head to Esplanade’s rooftop terrace (on Level 4) for a stunning view over Marina Bay. Want to make it a full date night? Grab a Subway sandwich from downstairs or pack a bottle of wine. If you’re hungry after, head to Makansutra Gluttons Bay hawker centre nearby!
8. Board game café
💰 Cost: ~$14 per person for board game cover
Get competitive over a fun board game night! Many board game cafés offer weekday promos, making it a cheap but engaging date. We had a great time at King and the Pawn, but there are plenty of other options out there!
9. Bowling
💰 Cost: ~$4-6 per game per person
A casual yet super fun date option! Bowling alleys at SAFRA and HomeTeamNS clubs offer cheaper rates than standard alleys. Pro tip: Go on weekdays for even lower prices!
10. DBS Sail by the Bay
💰 Cost: Free
Fancy a romantic sailing trip but don’t want to splurge? DBS Sailing at Marina Bay lets you ride on a sailboat for free!. Glide across Marina Bay and enjoy the city skyline from the water! Book your slot HERE.
